Wind – Is in use as power source for centuries. Wind-powered sailing ships mapped the world, mechanical windmills ground grain and pumped water, and kites amused children long before fossil fuels powered today’s ships, factories, and video games.
The power of the wind resource is huge by any measure. Today’s technology is able to reliably convert the kinetic energy of the wind to electricity at any scale – realistically we could produce far more electricity from wind energy than we use in total.
Wind power is the use of air flow through wind turbines to mechanically power generators for electricity. Wind power, as an alternative to burning fossil fuels, is plentiful, renewable, widely distributed, clean, produces no greenhouse gas emissions during operation, and uses little land.
